Tattoo-Legenden – Christian Warlich auf St. Pauli

Taking shape

Do tattoos belong in a museum? With the right exhibition concept, certainly! The Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte places the spotlight on the “king of tattooists”, Christian Warlich, with a special exhibition of his work, illustrating the cultural dimension of tattoo art in the course of the 20th century. With contoured headings, interlinked texts and distinctive typefaces the exhibition design incorporates the language of Warlich’s tattoos, thereby emphasising the effect of his work, which has influenced styles worldwide.
