LVR Special schools, North Rhine-Westphalia

Level best

Removing barriers, conveying a feeling of security, moulding identity – there are many requirements of signage systems in schools. Especially when the schools number 41, with five different focal points. As a consequence, the signage systems of the special schools of Landschaftsverband Rheinland aim to achieve a high degree of flexibility to satisfy the various focal points whilst achieving a high level of recall at the same time. In the individual schools strongly contoured information elements with clearly legible typography ensure a accessible experience and rapid orientation for first responders; pictograms and target group-oriented reading heights also help to promote the independence of the pupils.
