Albert Schweitzer School, Hanover

My school, your school … our school!

How do you encourage 400 primary school pupils to treat their school with respect? With the right signage system! For the Albert-Schweitzer-Schule in Hanover this means reflecting diversity and using age-appropriate language, as the majority of the 6 to 10-year-olds have a migration background and many of them cannot yet read – especially in the younger classes. As a consequence, the signs and pictograms are especially cheerful, colourful and easily comprehensible in their design. The illustrated diversity in particular leads to a high level of identification with the site and greater affiliation with “their” school.
