Semperoper, Dresden

Minimal impact, maximum visibility

There are few opera houses more perfect and steeped in history than the Dresden Semperoper. And this presents a challenge for a signage system. With minimal impact, the goal is to guide maximum numbers of visitors swiftly and safely whilst blending perfectly into the heritage-listed building in spite of a high level of visibility. As a result, the signage system continues the historical lettering with a light, contemporary approach. Individual letters made from engineered stone are mounted on golden inscriptions and connected on the underside with a line – similar to sheet music.
